Cutoff hierarchy

The Marks book uses cutoffs to determine grades. If the cutoffs are incorrect they can be changed. See table below for information on how to determine which cutoffs are being applied and how they can be changed.

Assessment specific → Programme specific  →  Course type  →  Global

Cutoff type    Hierarchy of cutoffs    Accessing cutoffs

Assessment specific    Will override all other cutoffs    Load Programme > Overview of assessments > Edit assessment > Cutoffs / Grading scale pane.

(This will only be visible if Allow per-assessment cutoffs is selected in the Course Type)

Programme specific    

Will override Course type and Global cutoffs


 


Load Programme > Cover page > Marks book settings and edit the Course type settings by adding cutoff rows and values. A cutoff template can be used.

Only this programme will be affected.

Course type    

Will override cutoffs set in the Global (default) area


 


Go to Administration workspace > Curriculum setup > Course types, choose the course type and edit the settings by adding cutoff rows and values. A cutoff template can be used.

All programmes that use this course type will be affected.

Global    Global cutoffs only apply when no other cutoff types are set    This is a site-wide setting which can't be changed by your school. Please contact the SEQTA Support team via the Help portal to request a change. Email authorisation from the school's SEC required.
