Why does a syllabus set in the Syllabus management page say Deprecated?

This indicates that the set was constructed prior to the release of the Syllabus warehouse server and process. The set has been installed locally into the SEQTA Teach database. These sets can still be used if needed, and they can be edited using the syllabus entries found in Data management, but that method is not really suitable for more than a small number of changes. Please contact the SEQTA Support team via the Help portal for more assistance.

Why can't I enter values for the syllabus in the purple reporting section of the Marks Book?

Teachers will be unable to save results entered if they are not an accepted value for the Reporting syllabus item. Where this is the case, the teacher should be notified of what the accepted values are, or if they are set incorrectly they will need to be changed by one of the school's SEQTA Administrators with the steps outlined in the following article:

What determines the order of syllabus items in the reporting section of the Marks Book?

The order of the criteria is determined by the 'syllabus id' which is the unique id each syllabus item is assigned when the 'syllabus item' is first added to the database. Next, any columns from the coursetype will display (i.e. Exam).

The steps to set the syllabus to appear in a different order are as follows. This is not recommended as it will result in the loss of results for syllabus already in the Marks book. It is also only possible with custom syllabus.

  1. Delete the syllabus item(s) from the database. This can be done through the Administration workspace>Data management>Syllabus items.
  2. Create the syllabus items again in the order you would like them to appear in the marks book. This can be done through the Administration workspace>Data management>Syllabus items.
    • Important note: This will cause any results that have already been entered in the marks book for those syllabus items to be lost.
  3. Link the newly added syllabus items to Reporting syllabus sets.

VET Units of Competency, packaging rules and superseded items

For VET courses, the data published on the Training web site is considered the source of truth. Starting in about 2021, we no longer add extra UoCs to a course if they are not listed on training.gov.au. If there is an extra UoC that you wish to use (based on the packaging rules) SEQTA will add the most suitable course that contains that UoC, so in your programme you can link the UoC from that course.

In some cases, the training.gov.au site will publish a course that is considered current but will include some individual UoCs that are shown as superseded. Usually the Support team will add all of the UoCs, including the superseded ones, as your school may not need the superseded UoCs for your teaching purposes. If you need to reference the current UoC, please raise a case with the Support team and advise which course can be used that contains the appropriate UoC.
