'Roll classes' are classes created specifically for roll marking. They allow staff to mark the roll for students that do not have period-based timetabled classes that can be used for roll marking. This is unlikely (but possible) if your school has a timetabling program but does not sync their timetable to SEQTA Teach. It is also a necessary step if your school has no timetabling programme at all, but uses SEQTA to create timetables.
There are three methods for creating roll classes which are outlined below. If assistance is required with choosing the best method, please contact the SEQTA Support team via the Help portal.
Internally Managed Roll Classes
Internally managed classes are created directly in SEQTA through Administration Workspace > Timetable Management. This is the preferred method for managing roll classes for schools that do not timetable classes in an external timetabling system.
Externally Managed Roll Classes
If the roll classes are timetabled in an external system (i.e. MAZE, Synergetic, Timetabler), they can be either synced directly into SEQTA or exported from the timetabling system and uploaded using Sync UI.
Calendar Roll Classes
Calendar classes are created through Teaching Workspace > Timetable > Calendar. This method allows teachers to create their own roll classes. If dynamic groups are being used the system will automatically enrol and un-enrol students when they are assigned to the roll group in the school's Administration system.
NOTE: Calendar classes must have "Allow attendance" switched on.
Attendance for calendar classes does not show in the 'Day-By-Day' tab, or in the Attendance pane in the SIP under standard view (instead, it is displayed when 'Time-Based' view is clicked).
