Synergetic integration setup process

Introduction

SEQTA can be integrated with Synergetic to allow parents and students to perform actions that were previously only available within Synergetic (eg. updating their details, completing forms, and making subject selection).

Synergetic provide the information required to enter into the Application settings in SEQTA (steps below). The SEQTA Contact codes need to match with the Synergetic Community id. 

Enabling Synergetic integration

1. Go to the Administration workspace > Application settings > Application settings
2. Type 'Synergetic' (without the quotes) in the search box in the top-right corner
3. Then enter the Community portal base URL, Pre-shared key, and Synergetic WebService base URL obtained from Synergetic.  These will be populated during your first integration rollout by Tes.
4. Enable at least one page to display in SEQTA Learn/Engage. (The "Intro" page is a good page to test, as it show connectivity and any page that is enabled in Synergetic.) 
5. Click Save in the top-left corner
6. Refresh the page and test the integration by masquerading as a student or parent that has access to SEQTA Learn/ Engage.

Enabling pages in SEQTA Learn and SEQTA Engage

Once the above setup is complete the pages can be made available in SEQTA Learn and SEQTA Engage by enabling the pages in Application settings.

1. Go to the Administration workspace > Application settings > Application settings
2. Type 'Synergetic' (without the quotes) in the search box in the top-right corner
3. Search for the section 'Synergetic integration' and enable the pages as required.  
   • The "Intro" page is a good page to test, as it show connectivity and any page that is enabled in Synergetic.
4. Click Save in the top-left corner. Check to confirm setup was successful. Click here for steps for masquerading as guardians or students.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Synergetic pages displayed in Application Settings?

Each page listed is a dedicated window that surfaces a corresponding page from the Synergetic Community Portal directly within SEQTA Engage.

Examples Include:

• Finance
• Payment Plans
• Other Community Portal pages enabled by the school

What is the Intro page?

The Intro page is a special page that displays all available Synergetic Community Portal pages that have

been enabled in the Community Portal.

Schools can also rename this page to something more meaningful, such as:

• Parent Portal
• School Services
• Community Information

This can help parents more easily identify the page's purpose.

How does authentication between SEQTA and Synergetic work?

Authentication requires three components:

1. The Synergetic Community Portal URL
2. The Pre-shared Key
3. The user's Community ID

When these elements are present, SEQTA can securely authenticate the user and display the relevant

Synergetic Community Portal pages.

Do students and parents need a Community ID?

Yes. Every student and parent who needs access to Synergetic pages through SEQTA Engage or SEQTA

Learn must have a valid Synergetic Community ID stored in SEQTA. Without a Community ID, the

authentication process cannot be completed.

How can I verify a user's Community ID?

To verify a Community ID:

1. Open the relevant Guardian or Student record in SEQTA.
2. Locate the user's CODE fied.  This will display an integer that will be Community ID code for Synergetic.
3. Confirm that the Community ID matches the corresponding record in Synergetic.

This Community ID is used as part of the authentication process that links the user to their Community

Portal information.

What should I check if Synergetic pages are not appearing in SEQTA?

Verify the following:

1. The page is enabled in the Synergetic Community Portal.
2. Check that The Community Portal is working as expected and can be accessed
3. The parent or student has a valid Community ID stored in SEQTA.
4. The Community ID matches the corresponding record in Synergetic.
