SEQTA Kiosk Attendance - General Overview
SEQTA Kiosk manages attendance based on how the Attendance types are configured and which mode is being used (ie: Class-based or Campus-based). See below for detailed information for these settings.
Please consult with the SEQTA Support Team before making any changes to the Attendance types to ensure that they fit with the school attendance processes and policies.

SEQTA Kiosk manual
The latest version of the Introduction to SEQTA Kiosk manual is available in the Support portal.
Class-based and Campus-based modes
SEQTA Kiosk may be deployed in one of two modes that govern how the system generates attendance solutions: Class-based and Campus-based. Each Kiosk iPad can support only one mode. If a school requires both modes to be available, an additional iPad will be required. Swapping from one mode to another can be done, but it is not practical to do this on a regular basis.
Please refer to the following articles for detailed information on how SEQTA manages Kiosk attendance based on the 'mode':
Attendance type configurations
SEQTA will configure two Campus-based Kiosk attendance types during the implementation stage: Late as a tag-in, and Medical as a tag-out. However, changes may be required to cater for the school's attendance policies and processes. Where an attendance type might be used for both Kiosk and Attendance manager, we recommend that new Kiosk-only attendance types be created, to reduce confusion.
How the system determines which icon to display
The system can only display one icon for each period under the standard attendance views (Teaching workspace>Attendance and the SIP>View attendance history>Period-based). The system determines which attendance type is displayed based on:
- The percentage of the class the student was present for, and:
- Whether or not the unresolved late goes for 5 mins or less.
Regardless of the icon that appears, the underlying attendance will be recorded correctly and can be seen under Time-based attendance .
Attendance priorities
SEQTA Kiosk will only overwrite attendance of a higher priority in cases where a student tags in and has an Unresolved Absence prior to the time they arrive. When this occurs, the attendance will be overwritten with the tag-in type which will generally also be an Unresolved Absence. See below table for default priority listing.
| Method used to record attendance | Priority |
| Attendance marked via the Attendance page (roll marking, including from the Seating plan tab, or SEQTA Mobile) | 5 |
| Attendance entered by tagging in or out of SEQTA Kiosk in class-based mode | 5 |
| Attendance records created via the Attendance administration page with normal priority | 10 |
| Attendance records which are created as a result of tagging in or out of SEQTA Kiosk in campus-based mode | 20 |
| Attendance records created when processing SEQTA Tutor tutorials via the Tutorial queue tab | 25 |
| Attendance records created via the Attendance administration page with overwrite priority | 100 |
| Attendance records created or edited in the Student Information Panel | 100 |
| Attendance records created in the Health Centre | 100 |
| Attendance records created when processing “Parent Requested Absences” | 100 |
