Removing a class bridge (Unbridging)

TABLE OF CONTENTS

This article outlines the process for removing a class bridge. It's important to unbridge using the method outlined below to ensure any results in the Marks book (Programme) remain with their class.

The bridging process is usually only required in the middle of the year to join the Semester 1 Classes and the Semester 2 Classes. Classes in a year-long timetable will not require bridging.

PRE CHECKS: In the following circumstances, please refer to the Further assistance section at the end of this article:

  • Further changes to the programme setup have been made, after the class has been bridged (ie. unattaching programmes)
  • The marks book for the original class has been inadvertently unattached from the class during the unbridging process
  • Assistance is required with stepping through the process
  • The unbridging process does not achieve the desired outcome

Unbridging process overview

Step 1. Determine how many programmes attached to the class

To check this click on the Timetable>Traditional View or Calendar. If the class shows twice this indicates there are two programmes attached; refer to the Further assistance section below.

Step 2. Save the Marks book results for the current class

If there are results for the current class, export the Marks book (using To Excel in the Marks book menu bar) so that the marks can be re-entered after the unbridging process is complete.

Step 3. Remove the most recent class from the class bridge

  1. Go to the Teaching workspace > Timetable > Traditional or Calendar (Calendar classes only)
  2. If working on the teachers behalf, select their name from the drop-down in the top-right corner
  3. Click on the bridge icon for the class
  4. Remove the furthermost right-hand class from the bridge setup. To do this click on the class displayed under the timetable period, then select Unspecified (Null)>OK
  5. Edit the Name field to ensure it refers to the correct class and timetable period displayed in the bridge (this may not be necessary)
  6. Click Save
  7. Check the previous class and ensure the results are still visible

Step 4. Set up a programme for the current class

Please refer to the article When to Bridge, Copy and Share. Alternatively, contact your school's in-house SEQTA curriculum adviser, this will typically be the School Education Contact.

Further assistance

If in step one above you found that multiple programmes were displayed, it is recommended this process be completed with the assistance of the SEQTA Support team.

Should there be any issues after bridging, bridge the class again, then contact the SEQTA Support team for assistance. Please raise a ticket with the details shown below as investigation will be required to determine which resolution is suited.

  • Timetable period
  • Teacher name
  • Class name
  • Whether or not there should be assessment results and reporting data
