TABLE OF CONTENTS

The RSCOS report has been developed to report to SCSA in Western Australia (School Curriculum and Standards Authority). This report draws data from various areas in SEQTA Teach to produce a spreadsheet that can be uploaded to the SCSA website. Information regarding requirements can be found on the SCSA Website.

This article contains the following sections:

Ensure the Government ID (WASN - WA Student Number) has been entered into the student record

Some schools may sync this from their administration system into SEQTA. If it is not held in the school's administration system it can be managed directly in SEQTA through the Administration workspace > Data management > Students.

Ensure the Ed. Auth. Unit Code and Ed. Auth. Course Code have been entered into the subject records

Subjects for RSCOS reports (Course of study subjects only) will need to have the Ed. auth. unit code and Ed. auth. course code assigned. If these fields are left blank then they will not show on the report.

This information would usually be synced across from your school's admin system (MAZE, Synergetic, etc.). If this is not occurring, please raise a case (contact the SEQTA Support team via the Help portal) with the Table and Field name where the information is stored in your school's admin system. If there is no sync set up, or if a report needs to be urgently published, the codes can be added directly into SEQTA (Administration workspace > Data management > Subjects).

Enter the State government number into Application settings

Follow the steps below to enter or change the schools State government number.

  1. Click on Administration workspace > Application settings > Application settings
  2. Enter the keyword "state" into the search box in the top right-hand corner.
  3. You can enter the school's State government number in the School settings pane.
  4. Click SAVE.

Ensure the correct Course Type is set in the Programme

In most cases, this should be set to something like the examples below:

  • Course of study
  • ATAR
  • WACE
  • Course of study Practical
  • ATAR Practical
  • WACE Practical

To check or edit an existing Course type, go to Administration workspace > Curriculum setup > Course types. You may build your own coursetype or rename an old item, however the following specifications in the coursetype are required for the RSCOS report to work correctly:

  • the Course Set contains COS
  • the course type calculator is Marks-based (drop-down selector at the top of the list of checkboxes)
  • the field 5 is the location for the Written mark
  • for Practical courses you need to include field 6 as the location for the Practical mark

To choose the Course type for the programme:

  1. Go to Teaching workspace > Timetable > My classes.
    • Select the teacher's name in the top right-hand corner if doing so on behalf of another teacher.
  2. Click the Load programme icon.
  3. Select Marks book settings.
  4. Select the correct Course type and click Save.

Ensure Classes for Concurrent Courses have been Bridged

To bridge go to the Teaching workspace > Timetable > Traditional view, click the Bridge classes icon then select the corresponding class for the other timetable period. Click OK then click Save

Data Mappings (where data is drawn from)

  • WASN: The 'Government ID' field in the Student record.
  • USI: The 'USI' field in the Student record.
  • Ed. Auth. Unit and Ed. Auth. Course Codes: The appropriately named fields in the Subject record.
  • RSCOS Draws results from the Mod Grade, Score and other fields in the reporting section (purple columns) of the Marks book.
