The Course type determines the result types (ie. graded, scored or both) that can be entered into the assessment section of the marks book, and sets a number of selections for special resulting purposes, such as VET and International Baccalaureate. Additionally, it determines which data are made available in the purple reporting section of the marks book (eg: ModGd, Mod%, Rank), and allows the addition of custom reporting columns (eg: Practical result, Exam subtotal).
It is essential that the correct Course type be selected to ensure the subject appears correctly on reports. The school's curriculum adviser should be able to advise which Course type should be used for the various subjects.
To change the course type for your class's programme:
- Go to the Teaching workspace > Timetable > My classes/Traditional view/Calendar
- If working on behalf of another teacher select their name from the dropdown
- Click on the Load programme icon for the class
- Click to select Marks book settings
- In the Course type selection pane, click on the drop-down menu to select the applicable Course type
- In that pane, the Course type cutoff settings for only that programme can be changed by choosing a new course type template, OR by editing the course type cutoff settings. This does not change other settings in the course type.
- Click Save
- Check the marks book. If results are missing, please change the Course type back to what it was previously and refer to the article Assessment Results disappear after changing the Marking type or Course type.
