TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction

Alert icons are used to indicate there is additional information available related to a specific student.  Alerts are visible in most areas in SEQTA Teach where the student's name is displayed (i.e. the Attendance roll page, Marks book, Student Information Panel (SIP)). The alerts are set in different colours and shapes to allow quick recognition.

Each alert draws data from different areas either in SEQTA, or your school's Administration system (which populates SEQTA via the regular sync). The source of each alert is outlined in the table below.

Student alerts are just that - an alert. The reason or extra information for the alert needs to be synced (or directly entered) into the correct location in SEQTA. This information is put into the student record Notes fields. Please remember that synced data will overwrite directly entered data.

It is not possible to create custom alert types or icons. However, the rules that determine whether they show for any given student can be customised for Special, Medical and Custody alerts.

Changing the Default Alerts Visibility

Alerts may be personal or create embarrassment for a student if the teacher's screen is visible to other class members via a projector or large screen. Alerts that show in the Marks book and Attendance roll page can be hidden by the teacher by selecting the Show... button and removing the tickmark from Student alert indicators. The system will remember this choice the next time the Marks book or Attendance roll is accessed.

The school-wide state for alert icons on student lists (i.e. marks book and attendance) is visible by default. However, this can be set as hidden by default if preferred. As this is a site-wide setting, authorisation from the School Education Contact is required.
